Packaging Review on The Dieline: Papafoxtrot

For this week’s Crit on The Dieline I reviewed the packaging solution for Papafoxtrot’s latest range of handcrafted wooden toy satellites. Created by multidisciplinary design agency Postlerferguson, the packaging reflects the precision of the aerospace industry and the crafted quality of the toys with a mixture of bold geometric form, fine detail, plenty of space and contrasting print finishes.

For this week’s Crit on The Dieline I reviewed Racer’s packaging solution for Swedish brand Glassbonden, an all natural premium ice cream made from local, seasonal ingredients and extra fat milk produced by mountain cows on a farm located in the Västerbotten region of northern Sweden.

Stationery Design By Richard Baird for Peruvian brownie brand Brownies Atelier

Brownies Atelier is a Lima based company run by Christel Krumdiek that produces finely flavoured and handcrafted brownies. Packed in uniquely designed boxes, the brownies reflect Christel’s artistic background, passion for high quality, natural ingredients and her creative recipes. I was commissioned to develop an identity and two packaging options that would capture the texture and exclusivity of the products and position the brand as a sophisticated alternative to the typically cakey Peruvian brownie.

Crit - Olmeca Altos

For this week’s Crit on The Dieline I reviewed the new packaging solution for Olmeca’s premium tequila product Altos. Designed by Coley Porter Bell the new bottle steers the product away from the heavy pattern detail and Mesoamerican script of the previous design in favour of a simplicity and subtly that mixes craft, tradition and its imported nature across a graphic and proprietary structural design that hints at a more recent rather than ancient sense of authenticity and heritage.
